Teaching audiences everywhere to thrive through the plot twists:
I realized that after you experience something challenging, you have two options:
- Say 'I had to learn things the hard way, so does everyone else.'
- Say 'I had to learn things the hard way, and I don't want anyone else to ever have to.'
I chose to do the latter. So can you.

I could immediately tell that she was going to be dedicated to the project, genuine in sharing her story and committed to helping spread a positive message. She perfectly balances speaking in an eloquent, yet real way that truly connects with college students and millennials alike.
Her evident hard work and advice to 'always be proud' really resonated with our students. It is one task to be successful, but it is another to share that success and give back to your community.

The students were so encouraged by her and her story! Having the opportunity to connect with someone who has recently been through what they’re going through (and more) was so inspiring. It was refreshing to hear how she evolved from using poor coping techniques to focusing on positive strategies.
Her reminder that someone else is watching us and to be the person that you needed when you were going through your obstacles was exactly what student leaders needed to hear!

I’ve already had a couple of kids stop by my room and tell me how much they enjoyed it. It really means a lot to them (and me) when students come back to share their stories and experiences. Thanks so much Jasmine Williams for taking the time to come and share some wisdom.
